Faith leaders addressing hunger and poverty in South Africa through interfaith collaboration

The G20 Interfaith Forum (IF20), a global platform at the intersection of faith and policy, is launching its powerful new webinar series, Faith in Action: Reflections, with an urgent focus on hunger and poverty in South Africa.

The inaugural webinar, “The Role of Inter-religious Actors in Addressing Hunger and Poverty,” will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM SAST (1:00 PM EDT). Hosted by Sandile Makasi and Yashika Singh, the event will spotlight the essential role of faith-based organizations in confronting food insecurity and economic hardship.

Featured speakers include:

  • Dr. Renier Koegelenberg, Executive Director of EFSA Institute and a leader in national food security partnerships.
  • Dr. Linda Naicker, renowned scholar-activist and expert on urban food insecurity, especially among under-resourced women.

During the discussion, Dr. Koegelenberg will reflect on the sobering findings from the 2020 NIDS-CRAM survey, revealing that 18% of South African households faced hunger at the height of COVID-19. He calls for unified, faith-driven action to combat child hunger nationwide.\

The Faith in Action series will span five weeks, aligning with the G20 Interfaith Forum’s policy priorities—ranging from food inequity to disaster prevention—culminating in the 2025 G20 Interfaith Forum hosted in South Africa.

Revolutionize

Komatsu's commitment to a carbon-neutral future is evident in this strategic move, aligning with global decarbonization goals. Dimaag’s expertise in mobile power infrastructure complements Komatsu’s vision, resulting in a versatile, scalable charging solution ready for off-grid applications. At BAUMA 2025, the MMCS demonstration attracted massive attention, highlighting key benefits such as modular design, smart energy management, and remote operability. This solution is expected to revolutionize how electric fleets are supported in mining and infrastructure sectors, where downtime can be costly and infrastructure is often lacking.Industry professionals and sustainability advocates have praised the initiative, noting how it addresses a critical barrier in the electrification of heavy machinery — reliable, high-speed charging in the field.

Komatsu and Dimaag Debut Mobile Megawatt Charging at BAUMA 2025 At BAUMA 2025, industry giants Komatsu and Dimaag have unveiled a game-changing innovation in electric heavy machinery — the Mobile Megawatt Charging System (MMCS). This debut marks a significant leap toward sustainable construction and mining solutions, combining powerful performance with zero-emission technology. The Mobile Megawatt Charging solution, developed in collaboration between Komatsu and Dimaag, is designed to support the next generation of electric mining trucks, construction equipment, and heavy-duty vehicles. With rapid deployment capability and megawatt-level output, the system ensures faster, more efficient charging in remote and demanding environments. With this innovative launch, Komatsu and Dimaag are not only setting new standards in green construction technology but also paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient future in heavy industries. For those exploring advanced electric fleet solutions, the Mobile Megawatt Charging System is set to be a transformative asset in the journey toward zero-emission operations.
